Ken Schaal1975 - Present Common Wealth SolarOwner and Head Technician. 1983 - Present Virginia Solar Energy Association Member of the board of directors and acting President since 1985 1986, 87 Solar Power section of Virginia Power Company's "Energy Education Workshop" Consultant 1987 Governor's Innovation in Energy Awards part of the National U.S.D.O.E. competition, Judge 1988 Innovation in Energy Award For construction of Semispheres Super Insulated Building Systems 1992 Virginia Department of Corrections and Department of Youth and Family Services On behalf of VSEA, Ken assisted in successful application for renewable energy demonstration program grants from Virginia Division of Energy 1994 Virginia Energy Award For a demonstration project installed in 1993 1992 - 1997 Virginia Home Energy Rating Organization In 1992 Ken was elected to the board of the Virginia Home Energy Rating Organization, then a fledgling operation. It has become the model large state HERS provider program in the country. He has served as the President of that organization since 1993. He has been active in establishing a statewide HERS in Virginia since the first advisory committee meeting in 1990 and served as it's President from 1992 to 1997. In this position he has been able to direct VHERO's successful effort to maintain it's leadership role in the Development of new HERS programs Nationwide CWS Memberships
